Job Overview:  The Senior Technical Project Manager (STPM) serves as the primary leader and central point of accountability for all assigned projects. This role ensures delivery of contractual scope on schedule, within budget, and to the highest standards of customer satisfaction. The STPM applies advanced project management tools including scheduling, critical path analysis, budgeting, change order management, risk assessment, and action item tracking to navigate complex challenges and drive effective resolutions.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Leads and oversees a team including construction managers, sub-contractors and individual contributors
  • Monitor vendor and subcontractor performance to ensure alignment with client goals, expectations and contractual terms


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Program and Project Leadership and Execution:

  • Manage field managers, subcontractors, consultants, and customers to ensure on-time delivery of key project deliverables, including audits and testing results.
  • Lead project team(s) to achieve successful, on-time, accurate, and efficient completion of projects according to specifications
  • Anticipate and proactively address potential project and team challenges, delivering actionable solutions to the BUL Director before issues escalate
  • Maintain a high level of accountability and ownership in all aspects of the project(s), ensuring consistent alignment with business objectives
  • Lead and oversee the multi-discipline project team, managing daily operations and delegating responsibilities
  • Serve as the main liaison between project teams and clients, addressing project status, scope, and opportunities
  • Represent the project team in internal and client meetings, providing operational and financial project status updates
  • Collaborate with Field Managers, Project Coordinators and subcontractors to ensure compliance and execution on targeted forecast dates
  • Evaluate and mitigate project risks, including project viability and timeline delays, and proactively work with project team and/or client to address
  • Provide self-perform support, as required, where needed to meet internal and external deadlines and targets

Communication:

  • Team Communication: Establish and maintain regular communication channels within the team, such as daily check-ins, weekly meetings, or project updates, to ensure alignment of tasks, goals, and priorities
  • Executive Updates: Provide timely and accurate updates to executive management on project progress, team performance, and any emerging risks or opportunities
  • Information Flow: Act as a central point of communication, ensuring critical information is disseminated efficiently between team members and leadership to support informed decision-making
  • Proactive Issue Reporting: Identify potential challenges or delays and communicate these proactively to the team and executive management, along with recommended solutions or mitigations

Financial Oversight and Profitability:

  • Full ownership and accountability of the projects financial cycle, including revenue recognition, P&L, budgeting, forecasting, PO management, unbilled accounts, and receivables
  • Monitor and manage all financial aspects of the Project, including monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue forecasting, subcontractor costs, internal direct labor, and overall P&L
  • Assess and fully understand financial projections and identify potential issues or risks in the budget, proactively addressing them with the BUL Director to maintain financial health and executing on forecasted targets

Business Development and Client Relations:

  • Identify and act on sales opportunities with existing clients to expand and grow existing programs
  • Build, cultivate and maintain strong client relationships, continuously enhancing service delivery and client satisfaction

Process and Team Development:

  • Drive internal process improvements through people, processes, and technology to enhance team efficiency and project delivery
  • Work with the BUL Director, and/or operations team to identify and implement process improvements to streamline project workflows and increase internal efficiencies (e.g., Project Dashboard creation, client database process optimization, etc.)
  • Continuous Improvement: Coach, manage, and develop project team members through regular meetings, addressing resource needs, performance issues, growth opportunities, fostering a high-performance culture and team atmosphere within the unit

Staffing

  • Ensure proper project staffing by assessing resource needs and coordinating with HR to onboard internal team members or recruit external 1099 contractors and subcontractors, as necessary
  • Manage and evaluate staffing options for projects, including identifying skill gaps, interviewing potential hires, and overseeing the selection of qualified sub-vendors to meet project demands and maintain quality standards

Onboarding Coordination and Training:

  • Develop and implement onboarding plans for new employees, staff, and sub vendors, ensuring they understand company policies, processes, and project-specific requirements
  • Training Delivery: Provide or coordinate comprehensive training programs tailored to the roles and responsibilities of new team members and sub vendors, focusing on operational tools, workflows, and quality standards
  • Ongoing Support: Serve as a resource for new and current project team members by addressing questions, providing guidance, and ensuring they have the tools and knowledge necessary to succeed in their roles
  • Performance Integration: Monitor and evaluate the progress of new hires and sub vendors during the initial stages of their assignments, offering feedback and additional training to ensure smooth integration into the team
  • Knowledge Sharing: Facilitate knowledge transfer by connecting new hires with experienced team members and providing access to relevant resources, documentation, and best practices

Data Management and Reporting:

  • Ensure accurate data entry, tracking, and management of all project-related information within the customers required database(s), inRanges Sitetracker platform, or other company-required systems
  • Generate specific reports to manage and monitor all project and financial aspects effectively

Travel and/or Site Visit Requirements:

  • Regional travel (approximately 5075%) required for audits, site inspections, meetings, and client/project site visits.
  • Occasional travel to broader geographic areas, including locations outside the continental United States.

Other Duties:

  • Lead project meetings, manage deadlines, and address project delays
  • Identify sales opportunities with existing and new clients
  • Attend internal, external, off-site status meetings, as needed
  • Coordinate with partners to avoid delays and maintain project timelines
  • Provide clear status updates to internal and client managers
  • Maintain project databases and trackers in Sitetracker and Fuze

Competencies:

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, easily adapting to directional shifts
  • Strong negotiation, communication, organization, problem-solving, and analytical skills
  • Knowledge of local zoning laws, permitting processes, and real estate practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, site plans, and legal documents.
  • Self-motivated with strong organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Ability to manage sensitive information with confidentiality
  • Valid driver’s license required

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Associate’s Degree preferred
  • 2+ years of site acquisition experience in telecommunications
  • Understanding of real estate principles and terms
  • Experience with zoning, permitting, or legal contract negotiations is a plus.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel; experience with Salesforce and Fuze is a plus
  • Ability to work independently, multitask, and meet deadlines
  • Detail-oriented with strong follow-through skills
  • Local travel as needed

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to travel frequently to various locations.
  • Comfortable working in office settings, at project sites, and attending public hearings.
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk, occasionally lifting to 10 lbs
